Certified Breathable Building

Previously home to some of Queensland’s most popular boutiques and cafes, the former Piccadilly Arcade has received a new lease on life.

The former Piccadilly Arcade, once home to Queensland’s popular boutiques and cafes, has been revitalised through an extensive redevelopment in Brisbane’s CBD. Evolve was tasked with creating an additional level by removing interior floors and excavating the basement for a new underground restaurant.

Blight Rayner’s sustainable design incorporates original timber beams, blending nearly 70 years of history with modern functionality. The 45-metre-long, 10-metre-wide building also features natural ventilation through front louvres and rear lane windows, making it one of the city’s first “Breathable Buildings.”

This redevelopment preserves the Arcade’s character while enhancing the space’s functionality and contributing to the city’s vibrancy.
